Special events and land use will be on the agenda at Monday’s Sparks City Council meeting. Previously, temporary use permits were a matter of tradition for sidewalk vendors in Sparks. Monday, city staff will be petitioning for a change in the Sparks Municipal Code, section 20.53, to include the requirement for a temporary use permit.

The council will also be hearing the particulars of a seven-year annexation plan for the city. The plan outlines lands that might be annexed into the city over that time. According to staff reports, the criteria for annexation include areas that are completely surrounded by the city whose annexations may be initiated by the city and areas that are adjacent to the city limits whose annexation may be initiated by the property owner.

The plan was developed due to mandates from Nevada law.
