Sparks showed it was infallible against Fallon Friday night, taking its second victory of the 14-year-old-division of the Babe Ruth All-Star Tournament.

"Our goal was to come out here and get through this one," Sparks coach Ed Remillard said. "We did a good job. I played some guys I didn't play yesterday and they did a great job for us."

Sparks brought its bats with it and scored in every inning except for the fifth.

The first time through the order brought Sparks a run in when Adam Bolingbroke singled, plating Garek Tauchen who reached on an error, allowing Sparks to take an early 1-0 lead.

The second inning was more productive for Sparks than the first, pulling in two runs. Leonel Abundis doubled to get on base and scored on a Brian Pachnik triple. Pachnik made it home on a sacrifice by Lance Donat to lead 2-1.

Fallon scored a lone run in the bottom of the second but Sparks got it back with a single run in the top of the third.

Sparks had another big fourth inning for the second night in a row, adding four more to the board.

Bolingbroke smashed a ball into center field, making it to third base. He would have had an inside-the-park homerun had he not stumbled rounding third. He scored on a Trevor Hustad single. Hustad rounded the sacks on a double from Dominick Austria. Tauchen followed suit with another double, sending Austria home. Tauchen scored on an error.

Hustad pitched four solid innings for Sparks, only allowing one earned run. Josh Briggs took over the mound for Hustad in the fifth inning and pitched three innings of relief.

"Trevor did a great job for us," Remillard said. "He throws a lot of strikes. He kept their guys off the bases and I got the four innings I was looking to get out of him."

Sparks tallied up another run in the sixth followed by four more in the final inning.

Gabe Martin led off with a walk and advanced to third on a passed ball. He scored on a double by Bryson O'Gorman. Abundis had another powerful hit, this time a triple to collect another RBI. Briggs helped his own cause by doubling, sending Abundis home. Briggs scored on a wild pitch to earn the final run for Sparks, expanding the lead to 13-1.

In the final frame Briggs hit Cody Bliss in the ankle with an off-target pitch, putting him on base. Bliss scored on a sacrifice from Garrett Johnson. Briggs came back and struck out the last batter of the game, Travis Woodburn. Briggs had three strikeouts and only allowed one run.

"The big game is (tonight) against Reno West," Remillard said. "We played them last year in this same situation in Fallon ... Tomorrow's the big game to get an advantage. The winner only has to win one more game. The loser has to win three games in two days."

Jeff Copple will start on the hill tonight when Sparks battles Reno West at 8 p.m.
