SPARKS — Police are investigating an incident in which a pedestrian was hit by a car on Wednesday.

At 6:31 p.m., Sparks police officers responded to the area of the 1600 block of Pyramid Way on a report of a vehicle versus pedestrian accident. At the scene, officers found an 18-year-old male unconscious with what appeared to be a serious head injury. The victim had been crossing the street outside of a crosswalk area when he was struck by a vehicle traveling south on Pyramid Way.

The driver of the vehicle was at the scene and provided officers with a statement. The victim was taken to Renown Regional Medical Center and the extent of his injuries are not known at this time. It does not appear that drugs or alcohol were a factor in the accident and no charges have been filed.

The Sparks Police Department Major Accident Investigation Team is handling the investigation and requests that anyone who might have witnessed the accident contact the Sparks Police Department at 353-2231 or Secret Witness at 322-4990.
