The USMS-led Nevada Fugitive Investigative Strike Team (FIST) arrested Reno resident Preston J. Steffon, 23, Wednesday afternoon after a lead pointed to a residence in Mogul. Preston had been convicted in 2009 for trafficking a controlled substance, and a warrant was issued for his arrest late last year after he allegedly violated the conditions of his probation.
After discovering Steffon in the bedroom of the Mogul address, the arresting officers also found two handguns, drug paraphernalia and a collection of knives and swords. Steffon was booked into the Washoe County jail and is now facing an additional charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
The Nevada FIST is a permanent task force that works to arrest dangerous fugitives and pursue sexual offenders. Agencies participating in Nevada FIST include the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, the Nevada Department of Public Safety’s Parole and Probation Department, the Sparks Police Department and the Reno Police Department.
