SUN VALLEY — The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Detectives Division is investigating a report of a sexual assault that occurred at about 1:40 p.m. Wednesday at the Sun Valley Community Park.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male between 20 and 30 years old, last seen wearing a black beanie cap, black hoodie sweatshirt and blue jean pants.

On Wednesday at 2:11 p.m., the sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the area of the Sun Valley Community Park to meet with an adult female victim of a sexual assault. Upon arrival, the victim told deputies that she saw a Hispanic man sitting on a park bench near the outdoor pool as she walked past. The victim continued walking through the park toward Sidehill Drive and the baseball field when she was attacked by the Hispanic man. The suspect forced her onto the ground near a temporary restroom and sexually assaulted her. After the assault, the Hispanic man fled on foot from the area.

Detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect in this crime. Anyone who was in the area of the Sun Valley Community Park between 1:30 and 2 p.m. and might have seen the suspect or victim, is asked to call the Detectives Division at 328-3320 or Secret Witness at 322-4900.
