While talking to both occupants of the vehicle, the trooper detected an odor of marijuana coming from inside the sedan. The driver produced a valid driver’s license while the passenger could not produce any form of identification. He verbally stated that his name was Jamarcus Russell and provided a date of birth. When the trooper was unable to locate a positive match in the database for Russell, he asked him to exit the vehicle. Two other troopers had just arrived at the scene.
The suspect exited the car and immediately fled from the scene on foot. One trooper stayed with the vehicle while the other two troopers began to chase the suspect on foot. They saw the subject trip and fall and then heard a metal-like object hit the ground. The subject grabbed the item which led the pursuing troopers to believe the subject might be armed with a handgun. The subject resumed running away and entered the northwest corner of the Star Light Trailer Park.
Additional troopers and officers from the Reno Police Department responded to the location. A perimeter of the trailer park was set up and a K-9 unit located the subject hiding under a staircase to a mobile home. The suspect was taken into custody and an identification card was located on his person. He was properly identified as 21-year-old Calvin Earl Golden of Reno.
Additionally, a handgun was located close by Golden. After a wants and records check was completed, we learned that Golden had an active misdemeanor warrant charging him with domestic battery issued by the Reno Justice Court on Aug. 12. He was transported to the Washoe County jail and booked on the following charges:
• Obstructing/delaying a police officer
• Resisting arrest
• Possession of marijuana, less than 1 ounce
• Possession of drug paraphernalia
• Possession of a concealed weapon
• Misdemeanor warrant
Golden is still in custody with a total bail amount of $8,147. The driver of the car was not charged with any crime.
