TRUCKEE, Calif. — Dressed to the nines with leash in hand is what Feb. 19 is all about at the Ritz Carlton in Lake Tahoe.

A champagne celebration to man’s “best friends” wouldn’t be the same without them present, which is why the Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe (HSTT) is inviting people and their pooches to join the third annual gala.

Support the Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe while enjoying a black-tie evening of dinner, dancing and entertainment. Hot Buttered Rum will be providing the live music.

“Seating is limited and tickets are almost sold out, but we want a full turnout,” said Stephanie Jensen, executive director of the Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe. “This is our largest fundraiser of the year and 100 percent of the proceeds benefit the program.”

This black-tie-optional event will feature a best-dressed pet contest and an adoptable dog parade, along with other special entertainment.

Black Ties & Tails will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 19 at the Ritz Carlton in Lake Tahoe. Cost is $150 per person and each ticket includes one dog per person. This black-tie-optional event benefits HSTT. For more information, contact Jensen at steph@hstt.org. To purchase tickets, call 530-587-5948.

The Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe is dedicated to saving and improving the lives of pets through adoptions, community spay/neuter services and humane education programs. To meet adoptable dogs and cats, go to HSTT’s Adoption Day every Saturday from noon to 2 p.m. at the Town of Truckee Animal Kennel, or call 530-581-3199 to schedule an appointment. To learn more about HSTT, call 530-587-5948 or visit www.hstt.org.
