RENO — The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office took Oscar Monroy-Calderon into custody on Monday at 3:57 p.m. He was booked into the Washoe County jail without incident. Monroy-Calderon is being held without bail on the original charges of sexual assault with a child younger than 16 years old and lewdness with a child younger than 14 years old.

An arrest warrant was issued for Monroy-Calderon, a 44-year-old Reno resident, on Friday. The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office was looking for him because of previous charges of sexual assault with a child younger than 16 years old and lewdness with a child younger than 14 years old filed on Oct. 22, 2009. Monroy-Calderon was booked into the Washoe County Detention Facility and subsequently posted bail in 2009. Monroy-Calderon has been out on bail pending adjudication on those charges.

On Friday, the District Attorney’s and Washoe County Sheriff’s Office received information that Monroy-Caldron had violated a court order forbidding him to have contact with the female juvenile victim and had allegedly committed another felony offense against the victim. He allegedly was intimidating a witness to influence testimony. Because of this, the original bail status has been revoked by the Second Judicial District Court.
