A fifth grader from Hunsberger Elementary School in Reno will appear on the “Today” show as one of several students chosen nationwide to be a guest book critic.

Murphy Bourdreaux will have an opportunity to review the book “A Whole Nother Story” by Dr. Cuthbert Soup, offer his critique and ask the author questions.

The “Today” show’s Al Roker hosts a segment called “Al’s Book Club for Kids” and invites children between 9 and 12 years of age. Bourdreaux’s mother nominated him for the book club, which Roker launched in 2007 to encourage children to read a book during the summer months, improve their skills and gain a lifelong appreciation for the written word.

Boudreaux will use the Skype online video conferencing from his home computer to talk to the producers of the “Today” show at 6:40 a.m. today. The segment airs locally at 9:40 a.m. on KRNV Channel 4.
