DAYTON — On Jan. 28 at 10:51 a.m., Nevada Highway Patrol was dispatched to a vehicle accident approximately seven miles east of Dayton.

Preliminary investigation shows that a white Mercury Sable driven by Jessica Lynn Sanchez was traveling westbound on U.S. 50 in the eastbound travel lane.  A green Ford Tempo with two occupants was traveling eastbound on U.S. 50 and was struck in the right front with the right front of the white Mercury.  The 52-year-old female passenger of the green Ford was pronounced deceased at the scene. Both drivers sustained substantial injuries and both were transported to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno via Care Flight helicopter. Alcohol is suspected as a contributing factor to the accident.

Once NHP is confident that family members have been notified of the event, names will be released.

Nevada Highway Patrol’s Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.) is investigating the accident.  Witnesses to the event or anyone with additional information is encouraged to call the Department of Public Safety-Communications Center at 775-687-0400.
