At 5:39 p.m., a Reno police officer came upon the crash at the intersection of McCarran Boulevard and Sutro Street. The pedestrian was crossing McCarran Boulevard at Sutro Street against a red traffic signal. A 2008 Toyota Tundra pickup truck being driven westbound on McCarran Boulevard by a 49-year-old male Reno resident struck the pedestrian as he crossed the street.
The pedestrian was taken to Renown Medical Center with major injuries where he later died.
Alcohol and speed do not appear to be a factor in this incident. The investigation is continuing and anyone with information is encouraged to contact RPD Traffic Detectives at 334-2141 or Secret Witness 322-4900.
