RENO — On Thursday, Dermody Properties presented its annual Capstone Award to the Washoe County School District and the Food Bank of Northern Nevada, which will provide food to 75,000 people and help provide breakfast to 4,000 more low-income children each school day.

The school district received a $25,000 award to expand its universal equipment to feed breakfast to nearly 4,000 additional children per day by expanding the program in Hug High School, Traner Middle School and Veterans, Smithridge and Natchez elementary schools.

The Food Bank of Northern Nevada also received a $25,000 gift for its Food Purchase Program, which will supply enough nonperishable food with nutritionally based food products to help approximately 75,000 people.  Of those, about 35,000 are children under the age of 18.
