RENO — A hit-and-run driver was arrested after trying to run from police on Wednesday.

At 4:38 p.m., Nevada Highway Patrol troopers were dispatched to an automobile collision near the Villanova Drive interchange on U.S. 395 south. When troopers arrived on scene, they were told that one motorists involved in the collision fled from the scene on

foot. Several witnesses called the dispatch center and provided updates to the location of the fleeing subject. The Reno Police Department also was notified of the situation and officers soon found the subject, later identified as 20-year-old Doug B. Comas of Sparks, running near the intersection of Mill and Louise streets and took him into custody.

Comas provided officers with an identification card that did not belong to him, but to one of his immediate family members. Comas displayed obvious signs of intoxication and had minor injuries he sustained in the collision. Comas was taken to Renown Regional Medical Center for treatment.

After being treated and released from the hospital a short time later, he was transported to the Washoe County jail and booked on the following charges:

• Hit and run accident

• Failure to render aid

• DUI — second offense

• Failure to use due care while driving

• Obstructing/delaying a police officer

• Possession of false identification

• Excessive window tint on a vehicle

• Driving with a revoked driver’s license because of a previous DUI.

Coma’s total bail is $3,909. The victim-driver in the collision sustained minor injuries.
