RENO — In honor of America Recycles Day on Nov. 15, Waste Management plans to donate $50 for every ton of recyclable material delivered to its Commercial Row Recycling Center the week beginning Nov. 8. The donation will benefit local needy families this holiday season through the Evelyn Mount Community Outreach Organization.

Since 1997, communities across the country have come together on Nov. 15 to celebrate America Recycles Day, the only nationally recognized day dedicated to the promotion of recycling programs in the United States.

Waste Management is the largest recycler in North America and currently is working with local government to enhance the recycling program in the Truckee Meadows. The company is working with local governments to develop a single-stream recycling program in the Truckee Meadows to help divert more material from landfills, capture more material for recycling and reuse and reduce people's overall impact on the environment.

To participate in Waste Management’s America Recycles Day by Giving Back program, bring aluminum cans, cardboard, paper, plastic bottles and glass bottles to the recycling center at 1100 E. Commercial Row in Reno the week of Nov. 8. Recyclable material will count towards the donation. The center is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
