SSHS girls pull out season-opening win
The Douglas Tigers and Spanish Springs Cougars always seem to lock up in competitive contests when their girls basketball teams hit the basketball court. Regardless of which team seems to be an overwhelming favorite, blowouts are rarely in the cards.
Cougar girls look to keep moving forward
A year ago, the Spanish Springs girls basketball team posted a 20-8 record and 12-4 mark in conference clashes. Spanish Springs swept all six Sierra League schools in crossover league games and their only league losses came to Reed and Reno, twice.

Unfortunately for the Mustangs, the kickoff return turned out to just be a short-lived brain freeze on the part of the Raiders.

Raider defense rounds up Mustangs
All season long Damonte Ranch running back Drew Smith has terrorized Division I North squads, gashing opposing defenses for big plays and helping lead the Mustangs to the regional championship game against Reed. Smith has meant so much to Damonte this season that the local prep world often referred to the DRHS group as the ‘Drewstangs.’ Unfortunately for Smith and the ‘Drewstangs,’ they ran into the Raiders on Friday night.
