Raiders, Cougars cruise to mercy-rule victories
The Reed High baseball team's offensive prowess continued Thursday afternoon. Reed had combined for 42 runs in its two wins against North Valleys Saturday and Tuesday. The opposing uniform may have been different Thursday but it didn't cool off the Raiders offense which stayed hot, leading Reed to a 19-8 romp over Carson in a DI North League tilt on the RHS campus.
Reed softball takes two from Carson
Dominant pitching propelled the Reed softball team to a doubleheader sweep of Carson at home Thursday afternoon. Reed's pitching was so good, it didn't allow a Carson run as the host Raiders picked up wins of 5-0 and 1-0.
Five SSHS male athletes sign letters of intent
Wednesday was a banner day for the Spanish Springs High School athletic department. Cougar athletic officials hosted a signing ceremony that saw 16 student-athletes announce their intentions to compete in their sport of choice beyond their prep careers.
Cougar golfers overcome windy conditions, win at Red Hawk
A two-week break from competition didn't seem to slow down the Spanish Springs boys golf team. The Cougars, and the rest of their High Desert League foes, got a break from conference tournament play during the Washoe County School District's Spring Break the previous two weeks, but they were back in action Tuesday at Red Hawk Golf Club in north Sparks.
SSHS softball thumps Bishop Manogue, 15-0
Any midseason lull the Spanish Springs softball team was suffering through a week ago -- when it was handed a lopsided loss by Reno in the Reed tournament and a frustrating home loss by Wooster -- seems to be long gone. The Cougars bounced back with three-straight wins, the latest a 15-0 road drubbing at Bishop Manogue Tuesday afternoon.
Wild weekend at Desert Park and 95A Speedway
STEAD - The Desert Park Raceway, where the Northern Nevada Kart Club hosted the second round of its season, was one of the many busy tracks last weekend. Great spring weather highlighted a day of hard racing as well as more crashes than usual.

RENO — On Saturday, the Reed High baseball team found out it likes playing on big fields. At least that's sure how it looked to Raiders fans after they watched their beloved RHS gang drub North Valleys 23-8 at Aces Ballpark in downtown Reno Saturday afternoon.
Reed softball nabs road win over Reno
The Reed High softball team scored four second-inning runs and made them stand up en route to a 4-2 road win at Reno in a DI North League affair Thursday afternoon. The win helped Reed improve its perfect mark in conference clashes to 8-0. The Raiders sit 16-1 overall on the season.
