Cougars win first-round boys soccer playoff over Damonte
Spanish Springs boys soccer coach Rob Moreland didn't think his undefeated Cougars played very well Tuesday night. The good news for Moreland and his SSHS squad was it still found a way to win, pulling out a 2-0 triumph at home over Damonte Ranch in a DI North Tournament quarterfinal.
Spanish Springs wins first-round regional volleyball playoff
The Spanish Springs Cougars had no trouble dismantling the Carson Senators in a first-round prep volleyball match of the DI North Region Tournament Tuesday. The SSHS spikers, the High Desert League champions, were never really even threatened by the Sierra League's No. 4 seed, Carson, cruising to a 25-18, 25-17, 25-16 sweep of the visitors.
Reed girls soccer drops playoff debut at Carson
The Reed girls soccer team saw its season come to an end Monday night at Carson High School. Reed scored first, but watched Carson score the next three goals as the host Senators went on to post a 3-1 victory in a first-round playoff affair of the DI North Regional Tournament.
Wooster too much for Sparks
A long season finally came to a close for the Sparks High football team Friday night. The Railroaders were stuck with a winless campaign after they dropped their season finale at home to Wooster, 43-0.
Rivals ready to rumble
It may not seem that long ago that smoke-filled skies infested the air over the Truckee Meadows. The poor air quality forced high school football officials across northern Nevada to cancel or move many games across the region.
Cougars, Raiders play to draw, again
The girls soccer teams from Reed and Spanish Springs played 160 minutes of soccer this fall and not even that was enough to determine the better of the two Sparks schools. The arch rivals played to a 1-1 draw Tuesday night in the regular season finale for both clubs. In the first meeting between the two schools, four weeks ago, they played to a scoreless tie.
Vorra rocks Wild West Motorsports Park
MUSTANG - The Valley Off Road Racing Association ended its season this weekend at the Wild West Motorsports Park east of Sparks. As a result 50 entries were on hand and Sunday was full of hard racing on this fast, hilly track.
