Cougars, Raiders rack up easy wins
It's been a fun first six games for the Spanish Springs girls soccer team. That's because the Cougars have won them all. The latest win came Tuesday night at home when the SSHS crew buried McQueen, 5-1, in a High Desert League affair.
Papenhasen finally wins Timber Cup
QUINCY, CALIF. - The annual season-ending Timber Cup races were postponed to Sunday afternoon due to morning rain but when the event started, racers were greeted with almost perfect weather and a dry track.
Raiders dismantle Bishop Manogue
The game got out of hand so early even the student with the megaphone was running out of distracting chants to yell. He resorted to complimenting the cheerleaders. Go figure.
Galena gridders drub Spanish Springs
Spanish Springs football coach Scott Hare was impressed with Galena after watching film on the Grizzlies during his pregame preparations over the past week. Unfortunately for the Cougars' coach, he's probably more impressed with Galena now, after watching the south Reno school clobber his SSHS gridders, 48-21 in a non-league contest Friday night.
Fernley football too much for Sparks
A rough start to the 2013 fall football season didn't get any smoother Friday night for the Sparks Railroaders. Sparks was saddled with a 41-0 loss at Fernley in a Div. I-A league tilt.

One week after the disqualification of its two top scorers resulted in exchanging a tournament title for second place, Spanish Springs rebounded in a big way, winning Wednesday’s High Desert League girls golf tournament at WildCreek, posting a score of 312.

The scoreboard showed Sparks scored two touchdowns but missed the uprights on both point after tries. But it wasn’t a gridiron battle for Sparks. The SHS boys soccer team thrashed Fernley 12-0 Tuesday night in a Div. I-A North league affair.
