The Spanish Springs Cougars continue to show they belong in northern Nevada's elite class of boys soccer programs this fall. The Cougars handed traditionally tough Galena a 2-0 loss in a crossover league contest Saturday at SSHS.
Reed football overpowers Hug
With current students and alumni of Reed High School in the stands, king and queen candidates dressed in tuxedos and gowns, the Raider Nation was looking for a reason to cheer at the end of Homecoming Week on Friday night, and the Raiders football team gave those in attendance plenty to celebrate. The Reed Raiders certainly had their moments of mental lapses and poor execution, but in the end, the RHS crew picked up a road win in its league opener against perennial power McQueen. That's no easy task and ultimately it's why Reed players and coaches are still getting caught with smiles on their faces, three days after the 31-24 conference victory.
Nevada outlasts Texas State
The University of Nevada football team traveled to San Marcos, Tex., Saturday to meet with Texas State. The visit to the newest member of the Western Athletic Conference capped an 8,000 mile road trip for the old WAC conference members and the Wolf Packs play in the first half reflected that.
Reed outlasts McQueen in HDL debut
RENO -- The Reed Raiders made big plays throughout their High Desert League opener at McQueen. Unfortunately for Reed, it couldn't sustain an offensive drive for a touchdown. At least that was the case until the RHS crew needed it the most.
