Sparks baseball snags first league victory
A late Truckee rally wasn't enough to keep the Sparks Railroaders from picking up their first DI-A North League win of the spring campaign. Truckee had the potential winning run on second base, but left it stranded as Sparks held on for a 9-8 home win in the conference clash.
Cougars bounce Senators, Lancers in tournament baseball
On Tuesday, the Spanish Springs baseball team picked up two wins in the same day for the first time this season. The Cougars got by Carson 3-2 in the afternoon and then earned an 11-8 victory over McQueen in the evening. Both wins were of the comeback variety and came in Day 2 action of a non-league Spring Break tournament hosted at Carson High.

FERNLEY - The 95A Speedway opened its season Saturday with an afternoon of wild racing and carnage as drivers all aimed to win the year's first race. Those fans that braved the cool, windy weather got their money's worth in an action-packed afternoon.

After back-to-back emotional and frustrating league losses to Reno, the Spanish Springs baseball team needed a win. It got one, in resounding fashion, Monday night, knocking off North Valleys 10-0 in six innings during non-league Spring Break tournament play at McQueen.
Reed softball dispenses of Manogue
The Bishop Manogue Miners committed a trio of fourth-inning errors in their DI North League contest against Reed Saturday. The visiting Raiders cashed in for three runs on the miscues and that may have been the difference as Reed wound up earning a 4-1 prep softball victory.
SSHS golfers best HDL field at Washoe
On Monday, the Spanish Springs boys golf team earned its second tournament win in as many tries. Spanish Springs, which topped the High Desert League field in the season-opening tournament March 18 at Lakeridge, turned the trick again, besting its conference foes in the league's second spring tournament, which was hosted at Reno's Washoe Golf Course.
