Man convicted in large national forest marijuana grow operation
SACRAMENTO — United States Attorney Benjamin B. Wagner announced Wednesday that 47-year-old Bay Area resident Patricio Garcia Reyes, also known as Agustin Vasquez Garcia, was convicted of conspiracy to grow marijuana and of carrying a firearm in a drug trafficking offense. Three teens injured in Fallon car accident
On Tuesday at 7:41 am, troopers from the Nevada Highway Patrol were dispatched to an accident involving a school bus on U.S. Highway 50 near River Village Drive, just west of Fallon. The accident took place in the right, eastbound lane of the four-lane highway where the speed limit is 55 mph.

Deer poachers still at large
Authorities still are searching for information that will lead them to the person or persons responsible for the illegal killing of several deer southwest of Carson City. The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) and The Humane Society Wildlife Land Trust (HSWLT) are offering a reward of up to $2,500 for information leading to an identification, arrest and conviction in the case.

Driver rear-ends a school bus
On Thursday, the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Reno resident for failing to use due care, driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, which is a felony, convicted person failing to change their address and no proof of insurance. The driver, 56-year-old Douglas Whisler, was booked into the Washoe County jail and his bail is set at $9,080.

Larcenies in northwest Reno
The Reno Police Department has received two cases during the last two weeks involving residential thefts, where two suspects are approaching residents and asking to clean their house for a small amount of cash. The residents are then finding several items stolen from the house after the suspects leave.

Speed enforcement campaign starts Monday
