ELKO (AP) — The chief executive officer of Yukon-Nevada Gold Corp. has announced his resignation.

Robert F. Baldock took the lead in May 2009 in restructuring management of the company that is based in Vancouver, B.C., and owns the Jerritt Canyon mine in Elko County. The mine is operated by Queenstake Resources, a subsidiary of Yukon-Nevada.

Baldock says he’s leaving the company in the hands of two highly skilled executives. Current Chief Financial Officer Shaun Heinrichs also will assume the role of president while Randy Reichert, the chief operating officer, will do double duty as CEO.

Yukon-Nevada Gold’s primary focus is gold mining in Nevada but it also explores and develops silver, zinc and copper. It has operations outside Nevada in Arizona, British Columbia and the Yukon.
