RENO — On Wednesday, detectives with the Regional Sex Offender Notification Unit, along with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Service and the Nevada Department of Parole and Probation, apprehended a Tier III sex offender from Michigan.

James Edward Gibson, 31, is suspected of living in Reno since March 2011, but hasn’t registered with local law enforcement as required by law. Gibson was found at a residence in the 3200 block of Lymberry Street, and surrendered peacefully as requested by law enforcement. Gibson is wanted in Michigan for registration and weapons violations. He was taken to the Washoe County jail and booked for sex offender failing to register (second offense, a felony). Bail has been set at $10,000.
