Two arrested for possession of drugs, stolen firearm

SPARKS — Two residents were arrested Sunday when police found then carrying stolen weapons and drugs.

Samuel Hernandez, 19, and Edgar William Munoz-Guzman, 20, were taken into custody on the 400 block of Greenbrae Drive at about 4:45 p.m. Sparks police officers responded to a call there about a vehicle burglary in progress. They found Hernandez and Munoz-Guzman standing near a vehicle. When officers made contact with them, they found Hernandez to be in possession of a stolen handgun concealed in the front of his waistband. The handgun was reported stolen in a residential burglary in Reno. Munoz-Guzman was found to be is possession of a large baggie containing marijuana. Both subjects are Sparks residents.

Hernandez was charged with possession of a stolen firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, grafitti-related charges and a gang enhancement. Munoz-Guzman was charged with possession of a controlled substance.

The investigation is continuing.
