At about 8 p.m. Saturday, Sparks police received information that a man had approached REMSA personnel at Sierra and Third streets in Reno and reported that he had been stabbed. The man initially told police he had been stabbed in a fight and was taken to Renown Regional Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Gang investigators got involved but police later determined that the man had self-inflicted the injury. He was placed on a mental health hold, and his name is being withheld.
