On Tuesday (5/7) at approximately 7:13 a.m. the Sparks Police Department received  a call of a man yelling for help. Witnesses indicated a male who was bleeding was leaving in a vehicle. The vehicle was stopped by Sparks Police near the intersection of El Rancho Blvd and D St. in Sparks. Officers discovered the victim was in the car and had been stabbed in the rear torso area with the appearance of a serious injury. The victim was transported to Renown Medical Center by REMSA where he is being treated for non life threatening injuries.

A male adult was driving the victim to the hospital. This subject along with witnesses from the scene were transported to the Sparks Police Department for interviews. At this time the stabbing appears to be domestic related and there are no outstanding suspects.

SPD has information that a third person may have helped the victim to his car immediately after the stabbing. Sparks Police Detectives would like to speak with this person. Anyone with information can call Secret Witness or Sparks Police Detectives at 775-353-2225.

UPDATE

Sparks Detectives learned that the individual driving the vehicle, David Winship, and the victim, Bobby Ford, reside together at the Merchant address. Winship and Ford became involved in an argument that escalated into a physical altercation where Winship ultimately stabbed Ford.

Ford is recovering at a local hospital.

Winship was arrested for Battery with a Deadly Weapon and Domestic Battery.

The third individual involved has been tentatively identified. Detectives believe this person assisted the victim's efforts to seek medical treatment.
