In a make-up match at McQueen, Spanish Springs rebounded from a lackluster performance a night earlier against North Valleys.

SSHS volleyball coach Frank Sandomenico said his team had one of its worst efforts of the fall season in getting by HDL cellar dweller North Valleys Thursday, but he couldn't have been much happier a day later after watching his squad bounce McQueen, 25-15, 18-25, 25-12, 25-11.

“That's probably the best we've played all year, the complete opposite of last night,” Sandomenico said. “We had great energy, girls diving on the floor for balls, great execution and super aggressive play. When we made mistakes, they were aggressive mistakes.”

Spanish Springs got solid all-around efforts from Melly Munley, Lyndsey Anderson and Morgan Prince. Munley contributed 16 kills, nine digs and three aces to the winning cause. Anderson gave away 38 assists, dropped in two kills and did not miss any of her 23 serves, finishing with one ace. Prince added seven kills and two blocks.

The Cougars play again Monday against league-leading Reno. The local team has locked up the HDL's third playoff seed into next month's regional tournament.

“We told the girls where we stand for the playoffs and that there's no

pressure on us Monday. All we can try to do is go out and try to get that first win in school history against Reno. There's nothing at stake. We might as well get tuned up for the playoffs."
