SPARKS — While most of the 60 scouts from Boy Scout troop 443 from Spanish Springs are away at Camp Marin Sierra, a select few are preparing to go to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico for a premier high adventure camp Aug. 10. Philmont Scout Ranch is an invite-only camp and nine lucky scouts and three adults from the troop are preparing for the trip of their scouting life times.

The scouts have raised about $5,000 for the trip by doing odd jobs throughout the Reno-Sparks area. They will be leaving for this amazing trip on Aug. 10 to fly to Denver where they will board a bus for the five-hour drive to the camp. The scouts will be taking a seven-day hike which will cover 30 miles of mountain and desert terrain.

The majority of the Boy Scout troop 443’s fundraising is in the form of manual labor by doing any odd jobs.

To contact Boy Scout troop 443 about hiring them to do odd jobs to fundraise for the trip, email emailnvtroop443@gmail.com.
