RENO — From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Sierra Contractor’s Source (SCS) is hosting "How to Build Local," an event to promote local business networking with new and existing members. Free event exhibitor space is still available for any vendors or businesses wanting to connect with the construction industry in northern Nevada, said Frank Hawbolt, owner of Sierra Contractor’s Source. It will be held at 860 Maestro Drive, with food catered by Sauce Wagon, special guest visitors, live music and many local exhibitors adding to the excitement of the day, such as: Cashman Equipment; Jensen Precast; Silver State Barricade and Sign; Western Nevada Supply; and many more.

SCS provides comprehensive, current information on jobs bidding in the northern Nevada and eastern/northern California areas along with reprographic services, marketing and outreach programs. Hawbolt purchased the company at a time when small local businesses across the area were feeling the impact of the slowed economy; he took the risk and has made a great impact. SCS earns the distinction of being the only entity in northern Nevada that has consistently mailed a weekly construction bid publication to its members. This publication includes public works, commercial and private bidding opportunities as well as bid results, contracts awarded and legal notices. As the owner of SCS, Hawbolt is committed to supporting and promoting other local companies.

“We have more than 350 company subscribers, which equates to well over 5,000 individual users in the local market," Hawbolt said. "This SCS Expo and Open House is another great way to connect with future jobs, project owners and vendors. There are many local building resources for almost all aspects of construction in this region; this is an opportunity to see those resources in person.”

The event will be co-branded with several local businesses to allow individuals the opportunity to meet and network with construction industry professionals and suppliers in the local area.
