SPARKS — On Oct. 29 and 30, Mars Petcare will host an adoption event to help find homes for pets from the Nevada Humane Society.

Dogs, cats and kittens – all looking for loving homes – will be available for visiting and adopting in the NHS mobile adoption van, which will be parked at the Mars Petcare Plant, 500 Waltham Way in Sparks.

There will be Halloween candy for the kids and the adoptable dogs will be wearing their costumes. Each new pet adopter will receive a starter bag of food and treats, courtesy of Mars Petcare. Visitors can also tour the facility to learn how pet food is made.

The event will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. on Oct. 29 and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Oct. 30. From 4 to 7 p.m. on Oct. 31, NHS will hold a free trick-or-treating event to provide a safe environment where children can get candy and love from the dogs and cats seeking homes.

The Nevada Humane Society is located at 2825 Longley Lane in Reno and is open for pet adoptions Sunday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. For more information, call 856-2000, ext. 335 or e-mail info@nevadahumanesociety.org.
