RENO — Following the sale of Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center to Prime Healthcare Services, Saint Mary’s Health Plans remains with parent company Dignity Health and will continue its role as a contractual partner with Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center, while also working to identify other opportunities and partners within the state.
“Saint Mary’s Health Plans is committed to providing the best health insurance options for people throughout the state of Nevada,” said Donald Kowitz, president and CEO of Saint Mary’s Health Plans. “And, while we look forward to maintaining a relationship with Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center and support its future success under Prime Healthcare, we are also excited at the opportunities that the future holds for our organization to provide even more choice for our customers.”
Saint Mary’s Health Plans, which includes CDS Group Health, a third-party administrator, will remain a strong statewide health insurance carrier with 120,000 fully insured, self-funded and network members, and will continue to provide quality products and services to its employees and members. As part of the Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center purchase agreement between Prime Healthcare Services and Dignity Health, an agreement was made to keep Saint Mary’s Health Plans as a provider for Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center and Saint Mary’s Medical Group, the primary-care physician practice owned by the hospital.
“Saint Mary’s Health Plans is firmly committed to maintaining the same top-line health care resources our brokers, clients and members access,” Kowitz said. “Our goal is to make sure our members have access to local health care providers, and we are working diligently to ensure they have continued resources and support to access the provider of their choice.”
