Friday was no different when the Railroaders traveled to Fallon for the first of three crossover league games.
Ruben Pacheco single-handedly led Sparks to a rout of Fernley, scoring six goals and adding an assist in a 10-1 victory.
“Today he was effective because he decided to play pure soccer,” Sparks boys soccer coach Frank Avilla said of Pacheco. “He’s been working on that. He’s been working hard on and off the field. The other boys have been looking toward him for leadership. Our assistant coach challenged him, and he’s starting to step up. We’re proud of him.”
Hector Hernandez, Charles Lopez, Juan Hernandez and Daniel Chacon each added a goal in the game.
Sparks has two more crossover games today at 9:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. against Elko and Spring Creek.
