YERINGTON — An off-duty Mineral County sheriff’s deputy has been charged with driving under the influence after he lost control of a pickup and rolled it on a dirt road about 7 miles west of Hawthorne.
Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Chuck Allen says 34-year-old Brian Munden of Hawthorne was arrested about 4 a.m. Thursday after he refused sobriety tests at the crash on Lucky Boy Pass Road.
Munden and a passenger, 21-year-old Trevor Powell of Hawthorne, were treated for minor injuries.
Munden later submitted to a breath test at the Mineral County jail and was over the legal limit of .08 percent.
Allen says he’s been moved to the Lyon County jail in Yerington as a safety precaution because he may have arrested some of the inmates in his hometown.
