CARSON CITY — Governor Brian Sandoval has joined members of the Congressional Medal of Honor Society who themselves have received our nation’s highest award for valor — the Medal of Honor — in issuing a call for nominations for the Citizen Service Before Self Honors. The award, according to the Congressional Medal of Honor Society and Foundation, recognizes and honors citizen heroes who have clearly demonstrated a willingness to sacrifice for others whether through a single act of extraordinary heroism at risk to one’s life or through a prolonged series of selfless acts.

“I am honored to join members of the Congressional Medal of Honor Society in issuing this call for nominations,” Governor Sandoval said. “Service before self is a cornerstone of my administration and today I ask the Nevada family to find those who either for a moment in time or for a prolonged period have put service before self with the same character and spirit as those who have received our nation’s highest honor for valor.”

The Citizen Service Before Self Honors award is presented each year to three United States Citizens and nominations must be received by Feb. 10. If you know a hero, please nominate him or her by completing the nomination form online at www.CitizenServiceBeforeSelfHonors.org.
