The Nevada Highway Patrol has not identified the motorcycle rider, who was killed at about 9:30 p.m. between Silver Springs and Fallon near mile marker LY33.
The NHP says the man was riding his 2006 black Harley Davidson east on U.S. 50 when the motorcycle left the south paved portion of the roadway and struck the south guardrail face. The motorcycle continued eastbound, overturned and ejected the driver.
Shortly thereafter, an unidentified vehicle traveling westbound on U.S. 50 ran over the driver of the motorcycle. The Lyon County deputy coroner pronounced the driver as being dead at the scene.
There is no evidence of alcohol involvement in this accident, according to NHP.
The name of the driver of the motorcycle has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
