Man arrested for threatening a police officer

RENO — Darrell Eilertson, 55, has been arrested for threatening a Reno police officer with a knife after causing a disturbance. No one was hurt during the incident.

The officer was patrolling the area of West Third and Sierra streets when he observed Eilertson causing a disturbance in the intersection. The officer stopped his patrol car to meet with Eilertson who immediately became combative. The suspect brandished a knife while verbally threatening the officer.

After being placed at gunpoint, Eilertson complied with the officer’s orders and was arrested without further incident. Neither Eilertson, nor the officer were injured as a result of the encounter.
