SPARKS — The top names in off-road racing will descend on Reno this August for adrenaline-fueled, throttle-to-the-floor off-road truck and buggy races at the inaugural Toyota Silver State Showdown, presented by Fox Shox.

The event, which will be held on Aug. 25 and 26, is part of the nationally televised Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series. It will be held at the brand new Wild West Motorsports Park east of Sparks at the Mustang exit (Exit 23) off of Interstate 80.

The two-day weekend event represents the 11th and 12th racing rounds on the 15-round national racing tour. World-renowned racers like seven-time Supercross champion, Jeremy McGrath, Freestyle MX Star and Metal Mulisha “General” Brian Deegan, Baja Off Road Legend Rob MacCachren, multi-time short course champion Carl Renezeder, X Games icon Jeremy “Twitch” Stenberg and the legendary off road family of Kyle, Todd and Curt LeDuc, will all be fighting hard to the finish line, hoping to set themselves up for a championship as the series heads down the home stretch.

Due to the ever-increasing popularity of the sport, the television coverage of the event will air on CBS, NBC Sports, SPEED, CBS Sports Spectacular and MAVTV.

This series includes the following classes: Pro 4, Pro 2, Pro Lite, Super Lite, Pro Buggy, Limited Buggy and Karts. Its true short course racing at its very best, there’s nowhere to hide, and no place to rest for the competitors and pure excitement for the fans.

“Norm Dianda and family along with Q&D Construction has been a great partner in bringing the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series to Reno-Sparks,” said Alex Striler, Director of Sales and Marketing for Lucas Oil Off Road. “Q&D’s investment is going to make this one of the greatest off-road tracks of all time. The high-banking turns carved into the hillside are outrageous. Combined with huge table-tops, an insane rhythm section and a long “ski jump,” this track is unlike anything anyone has ever seen. It’s a Supercross track for trucks.”

Wild West Motorsports Park’s brand-new track along with 4,500-seat grandstand was built by Q&D Construction and Lucas Oil. Fans will be able to watch all of the action from their seat as the short-course racers lap a course filled with jumps, dirt moguls and tight turns. More than a dozen off-road trucks take to the track at a time, racing neck-to-neck, resulting in occasionally spectacular crashes as racers fight for position.

Approximately 200 race teams in all are expected to race in the Toyota Silver State Showdown. Race crews and race families alone are expected to fill more than 1,600 local room nights. The race is sponsored by local hotel casinos The Grand Sierra Resort and the Silver Legacy Resort Casino.

Free ticket Friday and ticket info race fans will be able to view the qualifying rounds of the Toyota Silver State Showdown Presented by Fox Shox on Aug. 24 absolutely free.
