RENO — Washoe County’s Link Piazzo Dog Park in Hidden Valley Regional Park, closed since Oct. 10 so the county’s Department of Regional Parks and Open Space can conduct seasonal turf maintenance, is set to reopen Saturday.

Washoe County Regional Parks and Open Space appreciates the popularity of the Link Piazzo Dog Park and thanks the public for their patience during this three-week period. Seasonal turf maintenance is important and necessary in order to keep the lawn areas healthy and the dog park in the best possible condition.

Parvo warning at

dog parks

Washoe County officials have posted the following information at the off-leash areas of local dog parks:

“Washoe County Regional Parks & Open Space has been contacted by a local veterinarian regarding cases of parvo virus in the area. The virus is transmitted through dog feces, is highly contagious and often fatal.

For your pet’s protection, please follow this guideline:

No dogs under 4 months should be brought to the off-leash area

Dogs that are not current in their required vaccinations should not be at the park.

Because parvo virus is transmitted through feces, please be sure to pick up after your pet.”
