RENO — Wild Nevada, KNPB’s weekly local program exploring fun and interesting sites statewide has been selected for national broadcast on the Create channel beginning this October. Create is the most widely carried digital channel in the public television system, featuring lifestyle programs on painting, cooking, sewing, home repair and travel among others.

Locally, KNPB Create is seen on channel 5.2 and is carried on Charter Cable, DISH and Direct TV. Create is seen on 228 stations across the United States.

“We are thrilled that Wild Nevada will be seen all over the country,” said KNPB Vice

President of Production Dave Santina, who along with KNPB staff member Chris Orr, hosts the weekly series. “This national broadcast will allow people to see the real Nevada, learn about our state and all that it has to offer.”

Each Wild Nevada episode takes viewers on a day trip to a designated location in Nevada. Both long time residents and new comers enjoy finding out about these interesting destinations.

“Wild Nevada is part of our contribution to economic development and tourism,” said KNPB President and CEO Kurt Mische. “Wild Nevada, along with our award winning documentaries that are also seen nationally, show people the Nevada we know and love, in sharp contrast to unfortunate movie portrayals and television series like Reno 911.”

KNPB airs Wild Nevada Saturday afternoons at 3 p.m. The national broadcasts of Wild Nevada will be seen at 6 a.m. and noon Nevada time.
