She was born January 2, 1950 in San Francisco to the late Harlan J. Luedecke and Carol E. Luedecke. She spent much of her childhood in Houston, Texas near her late grandparents, Arthur and Leona Luedecke, before relocating as a teenager back to San Francisco and moving down the street from the love of her life, Peter William Jackson. Laura married Pete in April 1967 and, together, they celebrated a 45 year-long marriage marked by the kind of unrelenting passion and dedication that fills legendary tales and is hoped for by every single person that ever falls in love.

Laura served her country both as a devoted military spouse and civil servant that worked in human resources at a number of Air Force bases - including the preeminent Air Force Manpower Agency at Randolph AFB, and most recently, the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Reno.

On top of her incredible service record, Laura was the consummate social justice advocate and catalyst for change. She fought for the under dog and women’s rights – and would gladly give anyone the coat off her back.

The only people she could have loved more are her three surviving children: Kimberly Key, of Austin; Adrienne Cook, of Reno; Peter Jackson, Jr., of Las Vegas and her three surviving grandchildren: Stefani Spandau, Harley Cook, and Jewel Jackson.

A viewing will be held at 4 P.M. Thursday, May 17th at Walton Sparks Funeral Home. Burial will be held at 10 A.M. Friday, May 18th at Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Fernley.
