LAS VEGAS (AP) — Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval and Sen. Dean Heller say they’re now endorsing Mitt Romney for president.

The two issued a joint statement Wednesday urging fellow Republicans to come together in support of the former Massachusetts governor and likely GOP nominee.

Sandoval says Nevada needs a president who understands how jobs are created and believes in American businesses, and adds that President Barack Obama left Nevada struggling to overcome the recession.

Heller says he’s endorsing Romney because the country needs to cut down excess spending and debt. He criticizes Obama for fostering what he called a “dangerous bailout culture.”

The news comes a day after Rick Santorum dropped out of the GOP primary. Sandoval had endorsed Rick Perry in September, before the Texas governor left the contest.
