RENO — Governor Brian Sandoval has appointed Anna Severens from the Nevada Department of Education to Nevada Volunteers, the Governor’s Commission on Service, for a three-year term.

“We are excited to have Anna join the Nevada Volunteers Board of Commissioners,” said Shawn Lecker-Pomaville, CEO. “Her familiarity and knowledge of grant management will be an asset to Nevada Volunteers, as well as her experience as a National Service member as we continue to promote AmeriCorps and volunteerism in Nevada.”

Severens is an Education Programs Professional in Early Childhood for the Nevada Department of Education. She administers and manages the Nevada State Pre-Kindergarten programs and grantees across the state, and serves as the early childhood liaison for the Department of Education.

Severens’ dedication to civic engagement is evident.

Severens served as a National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC) member and an AmeriCorps VISTA member for five years, continuing on to manage a National Service grant. Her commitment to service continues as she sits on multiple councils and boards such as the Nevada Early Childhood Advisory Council, the Birth-Grade 12 Leadership Team and as the Vice-President of Education Development for NevAEYC.
