RENO — The Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada (EDAWN) announced Wednesday that local executive Nancy McCormick has been selected as the new vice president for business retention, expansion and workforce. McCormick begins in her new position on April 9.

McCormick, who moved to Reno in 1999, spent her 32-year career prior to joining the EDAWN team with AT&T and associated companies, holding numerous sales, service and leadership positions. In her most current position at AT&T, regional vice president of national business markets, McCormick led a multi-state sales team responsible for retaining and growing business relationships and driving new business in voice, data, and wireless telecommunications services.

In her position at EDAWN, McCormick will launch an aggressive visitation program with local, primary industry companies, working to solve industry-wide problems hindering business in the region. Additionally, McCormick will work to ensure a smooth transition for companies moving into the region, as well as drive cluster advancement and workforce development initiatives throughout Greater Reno-Sparks-Tahoe.

McCormick has served on the board of directors for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern Nevada as well as Western Industrial Nevada (WIN), where she currently sits as president. She graduated magna cum laude from Chapman University in Orange, Calif., and she is a master graduate of Rapport Leadership International.

In addition to McCormick, EDAWN recently added two new members to the staff, now totaling eight.
