Starting the second-round of the Nevada 4A State Boys Golf Championships at TPC Las Vegas in last place and 33 strokes off the next closest team, the Spanish Springs golf team struggled even more so on Day 2.

After shooting a 450 on the first go-round, the Cougars shot a 457 on Tuesday, tallying a total of 907 and finishing in sixth place, the final slot in the tournament.

Coronado took the honor of Nevada 4A state champion by 34 strokes with a combined score of 761 (371, 390). Coronado senior AJ McInerney won the individual title, shooting a 133 (62, 71).

Spanish Springs senior Jordan Gilmore finished his second-round with a 79, totaling a 153 for the two-day championship. Gilmore placed eighth as an individual.

From there, the Cougar golfers fell down the standings.

Tommy McAllister closed out his tourney with a 92 after an 81 on Day 1 for a 173. Matt Beebe improved on his first day, as did teammates Cole Shirley and Owen Bartlett. Beebe followed a 96 with an 88, while Shirley shot an improved three strokes for a 97 and Bartlett put up a 102 after a 107. Matt Perera put up a 101 on Tuesday after he shot a 99 on Monday.
