ELKO — The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has released a preliminary Environment Assessment (EA) analyzing the impacts of a proposed access road to a 40.6-acre residential lot in the Adobe Heights Subdivision in northwestern Elko County.

Written comments on the preliminary EA will be accepted until July 13, after which a decision will be issued. The preliminary EA is available at www.blm.rv5c under NEPA, Projects under National Environmental Policy Act review.

The proposed road would be 2,500 feet long and would be either 60 feet or 30 feet wide, depending on whether the Proposed Action or an alternative called “Option B” is selected. The proposal consists of two portions, one comprising approximately 1,200 feet of an existing access road and the other involving approximately 1,300 feet of an existing two-track road. If authorized, construction of the road would result in temporary new disturbance of either 2.69 or 1.78 acres, depending on the width involved.

Comments may be mailed to Bureau of Land Management, Manager, Tuscarora Field Office, 3900 E. Idaho St., Elko, NV 89801, or by email to scraddock@blm.gov. Any comment — including personal identifying information — could be made publicly available at any time. For more information or to request a printed or electronic copy of the EA, contact Steve Craddock, realty specialist in the Tuscarora Field Office, by email at scraddock@blm.gov or by phone at 753-0273.
