Cabela’s hunting tips, outdoor activities seminars this weekend

RENO — Cabela’s continues its fall hunting and outdoor season events with a focus on big game during the Big Game Classic Saturday and Sunday. The series of free seminars and demonstrations will emphasize bugling tips for elk, back country bow hunting, camp grills and smoked food options, animal identification especially for kids plus provide some fall fishing tips from industry experts.

In addition to free seminars and demonstrations, child ID information and photos will be provided courtesy of the Washoe County Sheriff’s Auxiliary and Northern Nevada Masons from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

Attendees can also enter a sweepstakes worth more than $11,000 in prizes and learn about animal identification from wildlife biologist and accomplished big game hunter Jack Spencer on Saturday. The sweepstakes runs Aug. 16-Sept. 3. See the store for details.

High success elk calling by Preston Crabtree with Primos, Back Country Bow Hunting Tips by Sean Norvell of Mossback and two seminars by Lake Tahoe fishing guide Mike Nielsen on Jigging Up Limits and Mastering Your Trolling Setups will highlight the seminars this weekend. You can also get sunglass fittings by a representative from Maui Jim and Bradley Smokers will demonstrate their smokers and give you some barbequing tips.

Vendors participating as presenting sponsors include Carlton Calls, Flextone, Hunter’s Specialties, Midland, Mossback, Mossy Oak, Mountain Mike’s Reproductions, Nosler, Primos, Savage Arms, UDAP, Under Armour and Vortex Optics. Also attending will representatives from Avery, BoatUS, Bradley Smokers, Maui Jim, Rossi and Taurus.
