RENO — Art Slaves is now accepting submissions for its 16th annual show and sale from 5 to 9 p.m. July 12. Artists of all genres are encouraged to submit their work for an exhibit at Sierra Arts Gallery, 17 S. Virginia St., in downtown Reno. Artwork will remain on display for the entire month of July when Reno is Artown. This “Call For Artists” is specific to those working in the communications fields of public relations, marketing, advertising, journalism, graphic design and related fields of media and communications such as social interaction design.
The public will be invited to view, and also to purchase, all displayed artwork during the July 12 reception, featuring spoken word performances, live music and libations. The theme of this year’s event is “Revolucion – Celebrating A Rich Artistic Society,” fighting traditional beliefs about what constitutes “art” and the symbiotic, reciprocal and sometimes complicated relationship between a constantly changing society and pushing the boundaries of expression through various media.
Art Slaves’ Show and Sale is sponsored by AAF Reno, the local chapter of the American Advertising Federation. Cost is $25 per entry for professionals, or $15 per student entry, and all pieces will be included in the art sale. Proceeds from art sales will contribute to the AAF Reno Scholarship Fund.
All submissions must be original, and all flat pieces must be wired for hanging. Artists may submit multiple pieces, pending exhibition space. All submissions must be accompanied by an Art Slaves entry form and must include the size of each piece. Entry forms can be obtained at http://aafreno.com/events/art-slaves-show-and-sale-2012/, and can be faxed to 829-7662. All artwork must be received by Digiman Photography Studio, 4690 Longley Lane #124 in Reno, NV, by 6 p.m. on June 25.
