RENO — Thursday at 1:47 p.m. the Reno Police Department responded to the parking lot of a CVS Pharmacy at 1250 W. Seventh St. on a report of two subjects fighting and a possible stabbing.

Upon arrival a stabbing victim was located in the parking lot and the suspect, Erwin Tagubansa, was located about one block away.

The victim, a 41-year-old Reno resident, suffered several stab wounds and was subsequently transported to Renown hospital with injuries that were serious but ultimately not life threatening.

The investigation revealed that the victim and the suspect were fighting over the affections of a woman, who was on the scene. When the fight began the suspect allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim.

The suspect also was found to be in violation of a restraining order that the female had against him, so he was subsequently arrested for violating the restraining order and for battery with a deadly weapon.

Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to call the Reno Police Department.
