Trooper Barb Stapleton tells a local news source that officers believe alcohol was a factor in one crash on U.S. 395 south of Gardnerville that killed three people.
Stapleton says a pickup truck crossed the center line of the highway near Leviathan Mine Road late Saturday night and hit another vehicle head on. The driver of the pickup and a driver and passenger in the other vehicle were all killed.
Stapleton says another driver was killed in a single vehicle accident on the U.S. 395 about five hours later after failing to negotiate a turn in Minden.
Authorities have not released the names of those involved.
