Mixed child and adult golf lessons are a big hit locally. They are offered each spring and summer by the Sparks Parks Recreation Department. The second session is currently underway and being held at WildCreek golf course in Sparks.

In the adjacent top photo, WildCreek golf pro Dennis Oliver gives some direction to Aron Swan during a lesson Wednesday night. In the adjacent bottom photo, Swan follows the flight of the golf ball after watching his son Aidan take a swing on the WildCreek driving range. The one-hour classes of Session 2 run on Wednesdays through July 16.

The mixed child and adult golf lessons are just one of many programs offered the by Sparks Parks and Rec. Department this spring and summer.

"We try to offer as much as we can to get the kids outside and away from sitting at home, playing video games," said Cindy Brantner a recreation specialist for the city. "We don't want something to last the entire summer. We want a week-long camp or something that's a couple days a week maybe for two or three weeks."

The city of Sparks' web site has a link to the Parks and Rec. and the department's activity guide.
